Books that teach your kids values

There are so many fun, well written books for children – and even better, many books that teach your kids values. Here are some of my favourite, and I’ve outline what you can teach your kids through these books :

Books that teach your kids values

1. The snail and the whale – Julia Donaldson

This beautiful, rhyming story tells the tale of a snail who decides to go on an adventure with a whale, despite criticism from his fellow snails. Although small, and feeling insignificant, he is instrumental in saving the whale from disaster.

This delightful book teaches children to go against the grain if necessary, to be courageous and follow their heart. It also teaches them that even if they feel small, with little ability, they can still accomplish great things.

2. A squash and a squeeze – Julia Donaldson

The story of a little lady who thinks her house is too small. She takes advice from a wise old man, and by the end of the story, has chosen to be grateful for what she has, instead of focusing on what she doesn’t have.

This book teaches children to be content with what they have – and the incredible value of gratitude.
