Would you like to know how to lead a life that inspires others?
Do you want to leave an indelible mark on this world?Or do you want to just wake up, go to work, come home, watch a bit of TV before going to sleep, then press repeat to do it all over again?
I’m guessing that’s not really what you want.
So howdoyou lead a life that inspires others? Heres some thoughts :
Work at something until youre great at it not for the fame, or the money. But because you take incredible pride in your craft. And because youre willing to put in the hard work and effort to become brilliant at it.
Be someone who does what they promised to do when they promised to do it. Be someone who treats people the right way all of the time. Be a person whose actions and words match up.
Do something that would cause YOU to respect YOU, and then do it repeatedly. That takes discipline.
I heard someone say once that discipline is doing the thing you know you ought to do long after the motivation to do it has left.
This is what Im told separates successful people from unsuccessful people. Unsuccessful people would rather be entertained then do the hard work it takes to reach their dreams. Be willing to discipline yourself to do something even when its the very last thing you feel like doing. Just this habit alone will separate you from the masses.
If you think you can only do 15 pushups, why not try doing 20? If you think you can only sell 10 units of your product this week, try selling 12 instead. Pick an area and put yourself on a 30 day challenge to stretch yourself beyond where youre normally comfortable. Youll be amazed at what you can actually accomplish.
Try things that others would be afraid of trying youll automatically emerge as a leader when you take courage where others shrink back. Identify something that scares you and others and before you talk yourself out of it, go do it!
It takes courage to swim upstream, because if you do, others may resist you or criticise you.The majority will tell you to do the minimum required at work; to live for Friday and weekends; to spend your life being entertained instead of working on your skills; If you swim against this trend, you may need to lose a few friends along the way. If they are true friends, theyll support your personal growth. If not, you may be better off without them.
Decide that whatever youre going to do and whoever you are doing it for, youll do it with excellence. Decide that youll give it 110% of your effort. Be wholehearted with whatever you work at.
Have you noticed that the whole world is looking to impress others? Its easy for us to slip into this mentality – just take a look at Facebook. Theres such a temptation to show off our best selves 24/7. Instead, become a person who is intent on IMPACTING others, intent on making a positive difference in peoples lives.
We can all have a tendency towards selfishness and think a lot about what we can get out of a job, a relationship or a customer.
But in the words of the late Zig Ziglar,If you help enough people get what they want, then you will get what you want.Live to give it really will rebound back towards you.
Dont make the mistake of sacrificing the important relationships in your life. Youll only regret it research shows that one of the top regrets of the elderly is not spending more time focussing on important relationships. Dont pursue your dreams to the detriment of those who love you. Pursue themwiththose who love you.
Heres to your success & to living a life that is an inspiration to everyone you meet!
