It’s good to think about God’s love for us, to mull over this great love and let the truth of it sink deep down into our soul.
Recently, I collected together a number of verses about God’s love and found some great truths contained in them.
Here they are :
1. He rescued us because of His love
Before we knew God, we were enslaved to sin and in need of rescuing. God in his mercy made a way for us to be rescued and restored to relationship with Him. The well known verse John 3:16 says : “For this is how God loved the world. He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” Ps 13:5 puts it like this : “But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because You have rescued me.”
2. He will never stop loving us
Ps 118:2 “His faithful love endures forever.” God’s love is not contingent on our love for him – even though our affections for Him may go up and down, His love for us will never stop, but will endure forever. In fact, for the rest of eternity, we will know and experience the love He has for us. No matter what we do, He continues to love us.
3. Because of His love, He cares about our pain
We may think that God is not concerned about the difficulty we go through, the tough moments when life is hard. But He does. He is a personal God. He cares about our pain and is a God who wants to comfort us when we hurt.
“Ps 31:7 says, “I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and You care about the anguish of my soul.” (emphasis mine). He cares about the anguish of my soul. When I am hurting, I am not alone, for He sees and knows my pain, and cares about it.
4. His love is more vast then we could ever measure
Not only does He never stop loving us, but the depths of His love for us is so great, it’s unfathomable to our natural minds. It’s immeasurable. We don’t have a way to measure it with our finite understanding. We will probably never fully understand just how much God loves us, until we get to heaven when we’ll get a greater revelation of it’s magnitude.
Ps 57:10 tells us “For Your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.” and in Eph 3:18 Paul prayed that the church would “have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep his love is.”
Today, enjoy thinking about God’s love for you. His love reached out to rescue you, He will never stop loving you, He cares about everything you go through and He has so much love for you that you cannot measure it’s greatness!
