If you still have a music CD collection, and it’s not all digitalised, then today’s the day to go through it. While you’re at it, you may as well open and check that the right CDs are in the right cases too 😉
When deciding what to keep, ask yourself?
1. Do I still enjoy listening to this?
2. Does this music make me happy, peaceful, nostalgic, excited, motivated or in some way upbeat? Does it evoke positive memories or does it actually remind you of something you’d rather forget?
Music has an amazing effect on us, and the ability to improve our mood, or make us feel quite depressed! So why would you want to keep any music that just makes you feel downright sad? Lose any pity-parties and lose the CDs that bring them on.
If you’re not sure if you still want some of your music, how about trying this : over the next week listen to as much as you can – in the car, while doing housework, while working if it doesn’t distract – and let it tell you if the music enhances your life, takes away from it (in the form of negative emotions), or just isn’t enjoyable for you to listen to. Discard everything that doesn’t satisfy the first criteria – enhancing your life or bringing you joy in some way.
See you in Day #6 of our Declutter Challenge!
